READING COMPREHENSION

Is about asking the students questions about what they read. This will test how much do they understood in the context.

Teaching reading can be an arduous task as it is often difficult to know how to improve student skills. One of the most obvious, but I have found often unnoticed, points about reading is that there are different types of reading skills.
  • Skimming - reading rapidly for the main points
  • Scanning - reading rapidly to find a specific piece of information
  • Extensive - reading a longer text, often for pleasure with emphasis on overall meaning
  • Intensive reading - reading a short text for detailed information
News Reporting- (Journalism)

SHOW & TELL

Schedule: MONDAY
                     =====SPEAKING with WRITING & GRAMMAR==========

SHOW & TELL - a school public-speaking activity

The students bring something  extra-ordinary (any interesting object)  stuff in school. They need to write their sentences on their notebooks as part of studying sentence construction & grammar.

After this , they need to present their output in the class. this helps them to practice speaking in front of the other students.

THE SOUNDS OF ENGLISH

PHONETIC CHART

Uses

  • The IPA is used in dictionaries to indicate the pronunciation of words.
  • The IPA has often been used as a basis for creating new writing systems for previously unwritten languages.
  • The IPA is used in some foreign language text books and phrase books to transcribe the sounds of languages which are written with non-latin alphabets. It is also used by non-native speakers of English when learning to speak English.
IPA pulmonic consonants

Suggestions
  • First read the words on the chart aloud for yourself.
  • Read the words again by yourself.
  • Repeat until you feel comfortable with the various sounds.
